A Year of Blessings!
This truly has been an incredible year with Rooted for Good, especially for all the people that were able to uplift through our Good for Others commitment!
For every purchase you made, 10% of your sale went to help people in need in third world countries. As we wrap up the year, let’s look back at all the people YOU helped through your support!
Santa Maria Magdalena Home
Peru was the first place we put your 10% to good use back in January. The idea behind these homes at Santa Maria Magdalena is not to be a shelter but to bring in a mom or two or three at a time.
The mothers live there and Karen and the missionaries walk with them for at least a year receiving formation, entering into community living, and having a chance to rest. Little by little, transformation takes hold as they slowly begin to recover and regain their dignity.
Mary’s Meals in Ethiopia
An old friend of Rooted for Good, we assisted Mary’s Meals THREE months this year - and by us, we mean YOU!
Through Mary’s Meals, families no longer have to choose between keeping their kids home to work or sending them to school. Mary’s Meals’ school feeding programs lifts this burden from the very poor in impoverished communities by ensuring that educational and nutritional needs are both met through the help of volunteers from the children’s own community!
As a result of all this community cooperation, Mary’s Meals is able to provide a school meal for a child, each school day for a WHOLE school year for only $25.20 - that is truly remarkable! Your purchases at Rooted blessed school children in need with thousands of nutritious meals this year.
Love, Joy, and Hope Foundation in India
We partnered with a new ministry in May. Love Joy and Hope Foundation (LJH) is a Govt. Registered Trust dedicated to working with underprivileged children, families, and their communities to enable them to reach their highest potential by overcoming the insidious roots of poverty and injustice.
In a world where opportunities are not equally distributed, LJH stands as a beacon of hope for these precious lives. The LJH team is passionately committed to breaking down barriers and building bridges by identifying opportunities as they arise for these young lives and then leaving no stone unturned to ensure their journey is both promising and powerful.
A few months ago, Joseph was able to visit the team at LJH and could not have been more impressed! These folks are real salt of the earth people.
Caritas Program in the Philippines
In June, we brought financial assistance to Cebu - specifically Santo Niño Roman Catholic Parish and their Caritas Program.
Fr Dave Villaceran, the only parish priest there, offers a service for individuals in need. Every week, his team will visit one “barangay” (village) to find what he calls the “least, lost, and last” of their brothers and sisters within the community. On Sunday after the 2nd Mass, the selected beneficiary will be provided basic items such as rice, groceries, and other necessities depending on their needs (e.g., pillows, mats, blankets, water dispensers, kettles, bed pads, etc.).
This “Caritas Program” (“caritas,” being Latin for “charity”) is organized by a group of volunteers and religious, led by Fr Dave Villaceran himself as the only parish priest. Your 10% provided them with much needed funds to help the needy in their community.
Our Lady of Rest Elderly Home in Haiti
Over the summer, 10% of your purchases went to helping the elderly and disabled in Haiti.
Some friends of Rooted for Good in Haiti have a beautiful vision - to create a haven for the poorest of the poor in their community by building the Our Lady of Rest Elderly Home in L’Asile, Haiti. The elderly home is currently blessed with 13 residents!
They provide for both the physical and spiritual needs of their residents - including food, clothing, shelter, medical needs, spiritual needs, and even access to the sacraments! These individuals would have nowhere else to go without the love and support provided by Our Lady of Rest Elderly Home.
Rahab’s Rope in India
In India, about two hundred girls and women are forced into the commercial sex trade every year. Since 2004 Rahab’s Rope and its staff have created safe and loving environments for education and vocational training for these women and children. Through their ministry women and children are empowered to grow and develop physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually. Thanks to your purchases, we were able to contribute to Rahab Rope’s vision: to see lives transformed by God's love in action.
From Peru and Ethiopia to India, Haiti, and the Philippines, your purchases brought food, education, necessities, and a higher quality of life to so many people around the world. From all of us at Rooted for Good, thank you for making this a GREAT year!
Learning and Growing Together,
