Discussions about the importance of self-care aside, we hope we can say with confidence (and you’ll believe) that it is NOT “selfish” to have a skincare routine!
Not only does having a routine keep your skin happy and healthy but it also cuts back on the amount of “cover up” you may want to do with makeup. The natural glow that everyone wants is actually more attainable than you think - and it’s healthier for your skin to just keep it clean and hydrated instead of covering it up with name brand makeup that clogs your pores and makes the problems worse in the long run.
The questions that follow might sound something like this: what does a natural skincare routine look like?
How involved is it? Is this going to cost me a lot of money? I’m already busy - how am I going to fit something else into the schedule?
We are here to tell you that skincare routines don’t have to be complicated, expensive, or a waste of time. Follow these simple steps daily (or every morning and night) to keep your skin healthy and (maybe) never need to spend money on makeup ever again!
1) CLEAN That Surface!
The first step in any skincare routine is to give your face, jawline, and neck and quick wash. This doesn’t have to take more than 30 seconds. Just wet your face, apply your favorite face soap, rinse off, and pat dry.
Our Revive Face Wash comes in a 7 oz pump container that comes out as a foam and is frequently on sale. It’s gentle on the skin and lasts quite a while
(I don’t think I’ve ever bought more than 3 in a year) - that’s a pretty good deal for just $15.
2) EXFOLIATE the Stubborn Stuff Away!
Once your face is clean, you can (I do about once or twice a month), use a tougher exfoliate to really dig deep and get any stubborn oils or dead skin away that might have avoided the facewash. DO NOT rub hard, as exfoliating scrubs already have a rough texture and should only be rubbed gently against the skin for a minute tops. You don’t want to irritate your face.
At Rooted for Good, we have two popular options for exfoliating scrubs - our coffee and sugar scrubs. Take
a look and see if either suits your needs!
3) Close Those Pores with a TONER!
This step could be skipped, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s definitely crucial for those of us with big pores that like to snag every little scrap of dust and dirt that floats by.
Toner sprays go on fast and help to shrink the pores back down after being cleansed and exfoliated. They seal everything off and make your face tight and prepared for the last step - moisturizer.
Our 4 oz Refresh Toner is only $12 and lasts quite a while. Just a few sprays is enough - you’ll literally feel your pores shrink!
4) MOISTURIZE to Protect!
Moisturizer is something that should be as catered to the person as possible. Even if you’re someone who
struggles with excess oil on your face, that doesn’t mean you should skip this last step.
A well-chosen moisturizer for your skin-type will hep replenish any oils that you cleaned off your skin, keep your skin from going into “panic mode” and over-producing oil to replenish what is lost, and protect it from dirt it will face in the outside world throughout the day.
Depending on your skin type, Rooted for Good has heavier moisturizers (Renew Cream) or lighter oils for those who don’t need as much (Rejuvenate Face Moisturizer).
And THERE YOU GO!
At the end of the day, that’s only 3 (4 on some days) steps to a full-proof and simple skincare routine! From start to finish, this routine never takes me more than 3-5 minutes. Rooted for Good also has awesome bundles that can help you save even more, if you need to build your routine from the ground up and not spend a lot.
Make time for this routine - you’re WORTH IT!
